Marble Specs
A strong example of a 5/8 inch Akro Agate Prize Name corkscrew in the blue and orange combination known among collectors as the Jolly Roger. The name honors Roger Hardy of Clarksburg, West Virginia, the foremost Akro Agate authority of his era and co-author with his wife Claudia of the definitive reference work on the company, "The Complete Line of the Akro Agate Company," published in 1992.
The blue base reads as a soft periwinkle with warm amber-gold tones where the colors meet. The orange ribbon is vivid and well-defined with strong surface coverage. The color contrast displays well from multiple angles.
Condition is Mint with a glossy original wet surface. No chips, cracks, or fractures. No play wear. A few microscopic as-made characteristics only.
Size measured at the widest point with digital calipers. Marble is 5/8+.
Photographed with no editing or enhancement, so you can judge color and surface honestly.
