A bold Christensen Agate Company swirl featuring soft green ribbons flowing through a brilliant opaque yellow base. The green varies from pale celadon to stronger lime tones, producing broad folds, tapered hooks and attractive changes in direction across the marble.
Several views are especially striking, including a sweeping green band that wraps around the yellow glass and a tightly folded swirl near one pole. The unusually bright color combination gives this early American machine-made marble excellent display presence.
The surface has one tiny manufacturing touch spot—an as-made feature created during production rather than later damage. Condition is Mint(-) (9.2), as graded by longtime marble authority Bob Block.
Made by the Christensen Agate Company in Cambridge, Ohio, circa 1925–1930.
